The Executive Committee of the Manhattan Democratic Party met on Thursday to vote to endorse candidates for two borough-wide civil court judgeships.
More than a dozen candidates were recommended out by the Independent Screening Panel for countywide civil court. I was pleased that the two candidates I was supporting for the seats - Shah Ally, esq. and Ariel Chesler, esq. - received the Executive Committee's endorsement. Receiving the Party endorsement does not ensure them the nomination, though; both candidates will still need to compete in the Democratic primary.
Mr. Ally is Chair of Community Board 12 covering Inwood and Washington Heights, and has been an attorney practicing family and adoption law for years. Mr. Chesler is our neighbor here on the Upper East Side and currently serves as Principal Law Clerk to Acting Presiding Justice Peter Tom.
The Democratic primary election for State offices will be held on Thurs., September 13th. You can check your voter registration status here and find your polling place here.
